One less tooth

For about two weeks now I have had some cold sensitivity in one part of my mouth and some pain when swallowing. Today I get to work and about 7 minutes into my shift I have major pain.
All the sudden it feels like I am biting down hard on a copper penny that has a 9 volt current going through it.
I take the rest of the day off and go in search for a dentist. On foot. About 20 minutes from when it started the pain vanishes as quickly as it started. But I am going to finish my quest.
Every place I find is closed. Apparently 14 out of 15 dentists take Fridays off. I had no idea.
Finally I find one that is open from doing a google search but they can't help me. After I ask they tell me that there is /one/ place that might help. I call up and they can fit me in 30 minutes from now and they take my dental insurance.

Now I know that from the way I treated my teeth as a kid and through much of my adult life that I am lucky to even have teeth but this hasn't stopped me from not going to a dentist for 11 years.
The second they get me in the chair the jokes start. I am a freak of nature because I am 30 years old and still have all my wisdom teeth. The docker doesn't believe for a moment that I don't smoke "herb". I have two, maybe three, cavities. And one of them is the cause of the pain even though the pain I have been having is 3 teeth away from the one he wants to pull.

He manages to chastise me for eating beef and he even makes a jab at Marilyn Manson even though I am wearing a tan shirt.

But he is the boss. So I let him pull the tooth. "You will feel some pressure. But not pain.". Out it comes without any pain at all. In fact the only slightly painful moment is when he is hammering all of my teeth in the exam and the one in questions feels just a little painful, far less painful then I thought it would.

Total out of pocket cost was $119 which after spending $148 a few days ago for a friends cellphone bill means I am down to $14 in cash. But it was worth it. The painful swallowing and cold sensitivity is gone.

Now I just have to
a) come back another time so they can yank out another one.
b) come back for a cleaning
c) avoid sucking out the blood-clot so I don't die.
d) figure out if I am going to cash this Vicodin prescription.

They didn't want to give me the tooth. But I got them to give it to me anyway. I am going to get a proper decorative jar for it and put it next to my tooth brush stand. The tooth looks much whiter now that it has soaked in bleach for a few hours.

Teeth pictured are not that yellow in real life. That is the digital camera without the flash on because with it all I got was a great white blure.
